Another program not to be missed! Pope County Historical Society invites you to join us March 25th,
6 pm, at the Pope County Historical Society Museum, in Golconda, as Anthony Fleege, Associate Professor of Mortuary Science and Funeral Services at SIU presents “Medical and Funeral Advancements During the Civil War”. Anthony will provide an interesting program about the Civil War, and the significant medical advancements including battlefield triage, sanitation, hygiene and the practice of embalming the dead due to the need to transport long distances. This laid the groundwork for modern battlefield medicine and healthcare practices.
