The Golconda Public Library has a large variety of history and genealogy resources available to the researcher. 

Located at 126 West Main Street, the library's collection includes books and materials about the history of southern Illinois. The materials are arranged into sections, by topic, for easy browsing. There are sections on the surrounding Illinois counties of Massac, Johnson, Hardin, and Saline and the adjacent counties in western Kentucky. A separate shelf has books about the rivers that intersect the area of Southern Illinois & Western Kentucky.  The collection of the late Mildred B. McCormick on the history of Pope County is also available at the Library. Computers are available for the use of the public.
