Mission / Purpose

 
 
 
 
In order to maintain a living history of Pope County, Illinois and the people who influenced its development, both in its past and its current history, the Pope County Historical Society Museum will, through a review process, collect, preserve and display items which directly relate to the development of the county limits.  This includes memorabilia from current activities that are of special meaning to our community.

Meetings of the Pope County Historical Society
are held at the Museum 
118 North Columbus Avenue, Golconda, Illinois 
on the fourth Tuesday of each month
at 6 p.m. Central Standard Time.
 
The museum is open APRIL thru NOVEMBER on
Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and
on Sundays from 12 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
