This is an index produced by volunteers in 2012 to loose probate guardian files in the Circuit Clerk's office. Most probate and guardianship records are found in the County Clerk's office. The Pope County Historical Society recently scanned a very valuable set of index books in the Circuit Clerk’s office. These indexes, created in 2012 by a group of volunteers, are to the loose records in the courthouse vault. These loose court packets themselves include details on various court cases filed over the years. The nature of these cases is varied including family disputes, estate settlements, debts, criminal cases, naturalization records, divorces, and cases of many other types. These indexes are the key to discovering more about your ancestor’s lives – they help make them more than names and dates on a page! The indexes are available to everyone on the website – under Circuit Court Records. If you would like to obtain a copy of the original records, you may visit the courthouse in person or engage the Society volunteers to obtain them for you. Some files have few pages; some have many.
